West Kelowna’s old parks building is being leased to Central Okanagan Public Schools.
The school district will use the building for its alternative-education Take a Hike Program.
The program serves about 50 students, said Central Okanagan Board of Education Chair Julia Fraser in a news release. It might have been shut down if the space hadn’t become available.
The lease is for one year, with the option to renew for a second year.
Before it was used by the parks department, the building housed the now-gone Westbank Irrigation District.
Parks has moved into a new operations centre on Bartley Road.
